The activities of WIZ are implemented in both Italy and Spain.

In Italy, the demonstration area of WIZ consisted of 10 municipalities in the lower Arno Valley, in Tuscany: Altopascio, Bientina,Buggiano, Fucecchio, Monsummano Terme,Montespertoli, Montopoli Val d’Arno, Pisa,Ponsacco, Vicopisano with a catchment pool of about 209,000 inhabitants.

Selected on the basis of the characteristics representative of the system, the 10 pilot municipalities participated in the initiative from the earliest stages of definition of the requisites, offering their willingness to test the approach and the platform on line as developed, and provide the data necessary to supply it, contributing with suggestions and feedback in the state of development so as to ensure the most effective use of the instrument with respect to the real needs.

During the course of the project links were established with various local authorities,in order to encourage the spread of the service to other parts of the territory.

In Spain, within the Independent Community of Galizia, the WIZ area is located in the Diputación (Province) of Pontevedra, with more than 900,000 citizens in 62 municipalities. The experiment involved, more specifically, the town of Baiona, which became a special case study that enabled us to test the adaptation of the platform concretely (and above all to test the flexibility of its “engine”) also with regard to radically different scenarios of origin.
